The Benefits of Drinking Water

Do you want to live a long, healthy, full life?

There are two commodities that sustain life – water and air. Without these, we as a human race would die along with this beautiful earth we live on. What does this mean? What are the benefits of water? What habits do you need to break to create good habits of drinking water? Water is a cheap commodity; doctor bills, and medication are not. If you drink less than half your healthy body weight in ounces (160lb person would drink 80 ounces), you are chronically dehydrated and this is not good. You are asking for trouble and many health problems if you stay on this course. This is based on the average person. An athlete would drink 2/3 of a pound per body weight.

What this means is if you don’t take advantage of the health benefits of drinking water, your hydration levels will be poor; you are chronically dehydrated; you are depriving yourself from living a full, healthy life. By depriving yourself of water, you are instead dying slowly from lack of water, which is terribly unnecessary. You will be sick more and more, spend more money on drug and doctor bills, your skin will get unnecessarily wrinkly and dry, you could feel anxious or depressed, more frequent headaches will occur, you could develop kidney problems, skin problems, sleep problems, as well as being fatigued. The list is endless.

What are the benefits of drinking water?

Aside from feeling great, you will begin to feel better because water helps move antibodies, hormones, nutrients, and oxygen through the blood stream and lymphatic system – it regulates body temperature through perspiration, we need it to breathe, and asthma can be relieved when water intake is increased. When there isn’t sufficient water going through the kidneys, waste such as uric aced, urea and the kidneys cannot flush lactic acid because there isn’t sufficient amount of water, which could in time results to kidney damage.

Water lubricates your joints, cartilage tissues, between your vertebrae of the spine. If there isn’t water, joint deterioration and increased pain will occur. It can help with Rheumatoid joint pain and back pain. Off course, our brain is 85% water so the endless benefits of water will be focus, energy is increased – you will just feel alert and alive. Dehydration causes stress and stress causes further dehydration.

In conclusion, your body is reliant, running on water and minerals, like a vehicle is on oil. If there isn’t the right amount of fluid, the body will rebel and break down – the benefits of drinking water is infinite. Go drink water and begin to make it a habit; your mind, body, spirit, and emotions will thank you. You deserve to be healthy. If you are unsure how much water to drink, like I stated earlier, an easy formula to use is, drink half your “healthy” body weight in ounces. For every 25 pounds of being overweight, add another 8 ounces (250ml). Water is one piece of the puzzle of being healthy and happy. Good luck. Go grab a clear, fresh glass of water now. :)
